All →Climate – Switzerland
Switzerland is mountainous and its weather changes with altitude: temperate continental on the Swiss Plateau, cold and snowy in the Alps, and warmer and sunnier in Ticino south of the Alps. The Alps often hold back precipitation, so the weather north and south of the mountains can be very different.
Averages 2022–2024 (Zürich): the warmest month is August (average daytime high 25.8 °C), the coldest January (average night-time low −1.2 °C). About 1365 mm of precipitation falls per year; the wettest month is May (145 mm), the driest February (60 mm), with around 169 days of at least 1 mm.
