The Hanseatic wharf with timber buildings and narrow lanes, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fronts are the postcard, but the lanes behind them are where it feels real. The Bryggen page of Visit Bergen tells its story, and the Bryggens Museum nearby fills in the history.

Both
Best time

A cable car up Bergen’s highest mountain, with a wide view over the city and the land around it. It is higher and wilder than Fløyen, so on a clear day it is the better of the two.
