Nice public transport: airport tram, tickets and lines
One ticket covers the trams and buses of Lignes d’Azur. For most visits, the airport tram and your own feet will do nearly everything.

Line 2 leaves from both terminals about every 8 minutes on weekdays. The stretch between Terminal 2, Terminal 1 and Grand Arénas is free, which is worth knowing if you only need to change terminal. The AERO ticket stays open for the return leg; compare the airport’s fare list before you buy, because two singles on a card work out cheaper.

Tickets load on a rechargeable card with a €2 refundable deposit, sold at tram-stop machines and shops, or on the Lignes d’Azur Tickets app. Validate every time you board. There are also multi-ride tickets and 2-day and 7-day passes. Heading further along the coast? The Sud Azur Explore pass adds trains in the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco for 3, 7 or 14 days.
Lines worth knowing
- Tram Lines 1, 2, 3 and B. Line 1 crosses the centre through Avenue Jean Médecin and Place Masséna. Line 2 links the airport with the port, line 3 serves the western side towards Saint-Isidore, and line B runs from the airport to the CADAM offices.
- Bus Lignes d’Azur buses. Lines 5, 16, 18, 33 and 40 climb to the Musée Matisse in Cimiez; same ticket as the tram.
- TER Regional trains. The coast line runs between Cannes and Ventimiglia and calls at Nice-Ville. It is the quickest way to Monaco and Antibes.
